Skincare: Moisturisers

So I know I have been an awful blogger this month but im back with my skincare products. Instead of doing one really long post with everything I use (which is actually a lot now) I thought I would do a mini series where I would go over the products and how I use them in more detail and I personally would rather read a short post than a majorly long one. Anywayyy on with the Moisturisers I use on my face and body.

I have had this pot of Avon's Rich Moisture Face Cream for about 2 years now and It has only just ran out, I have no idea if you can even still buy it from them but if you can I suggest you look into it. It's an amazing face cream, it is very thick and does sit on your skin for a while so it's best to put this on and then wait 5 minutes for it to sink in, but it's perfect for anybody who has dry skin like I do as it really does stop any signs of dryness on your face. I can't remember how much this cost me but I dont think it was anything more than £5 so it's really worth it as it's lasted me so long and you only needed the tiniest bit to cover your whole face and neck.

As my Avon cream has just ran out I have bought this one from Simple, I have a few other products from Simple and I really like all of them so I thought this would be the next thing for me to try from the range. It is only the light moisturiser but I think I may buy the rich one as well for when my skin is especially dry. I only got this yesterday and therefore only used it twice but it's really nice, a very light cream almost a lotion but not quite, sinks into the skin very quickly and doesn't leave any residue. You can buy Simple from most supermarkets and drug stores, from Boots it cost £3.29 for a 125ml bottle but you only need a small amount to cover all of your face and neck so it should last quite a long time. I can't really give a full review on this but if you would like me to when i've used it for a few more weeks then tell me and I will :)

Now onto my body, I use two different creams for my body depending on the occasion. If I am going somewhere special then I will use the Monsoon body cream as it has a lovely scent which lingers on your skin and if im not doing anything then I will use the E45 cream. The Monsoon body cream smells like the purfume does which is a scent I really like, it is a very think cream which goes a long way when using it. It is really moisturising and is great if you don't like using purfumes as it makes your skin smell amazing and it lasts on the skin a fair amount of time. The E45 cream is one that I have used since I was born as I have eczema and it is one that is good for people who have eczema, however you can use it even if you don't. This is quite a light moisturiser which sinks into your skin well and leaves you moisturised for the whole day. I use this everywhere and can be used for the face as well I just choose to use a different one. This is a very good cream that I highly recommend even though its not fancy or particularly good to look at it does the job and well.

Beginners Brushes

For me there are three brushes which should be every girls starting point to get them into using brushes :)

An all over face brush - This brush can be used to apply pressed or loose powder, powdered foundation, blusher, bronzer etc. I use it to apply powder to my face all over, its a really easy brush to use but if you dont have a brush or are saving up to buy say a MAC 150 then you could also use a powder puff to apply your powder or a kabuki brush. This brush is just a random one that I've had for a long time and doesn't have a company name on.

A angled brush - I use this brush to apply blush and to contour the face, using an angled brush makes this so easy that you don't really have to do anything as the brush hugs your face making sure that you get an even distribution of the colour. This is like the MAC 168. Mine is from Avon.

An eyeshadow brush - This is a great brush to pack the colour onto your eyes so you don't have to keep reapplying. I really like this brush and only really use it to apply my eyeshadow. It works really well and if you cant afford to get lots of brushes straight away then this is the one to start off with :) This reminds me of the MAC 217. Mine is from No.7 and featured in this haul :)

These for me are the three to start your collection with and then work your way up to things like a concealer brush, a foundation brush etc. etc. because for those you can use your fingers until you get the right brush for you :) Hope this helps anyone whose wondering where to start :)

NOTD

Yes its another NOTD (can you tell im pretty addicted to painting my nails at the moment?) :)

As you can see this is an Avon Mirror Shine in Blue Steel, I like the colour of this although looking at the colour on my nails its more lilac than blue steel but all the same its a nice colour. The actual product however its not so nice.. the colour is very hard to apply and even harder to apply well and evenly over the whole nail. I found that It was drying before I actually covered the whole nail so when I went over the same bit it would clump and look a mess. It was slightly easier to do the second coat but still not really worth the hassle because its not a very good quality nailvarnish and it looks quite streaky on the nails so im affraid to say that I wouldn't recommend this to somebody to buy :(

Today I just wanted a casual look to go out for a drive with some friends and this is what I did..

Lighter colour on the inner corner then dragged across the lid with the darker bronze colour in the outer corner and in the crease

As it has been nice weather I have been wearing this eyeshadow combination for the past 3 days as I didn't want anything that looked too heavy. I have found that what the colours look like on my eyes in real life don't show up so well on my camera, im not sure why because there is plenty of light so I think it must just be the camera :(

Seeing as it was quite a nice day I decided to go for a brighter colour on my eyes and as I was wearing a blue cardi with my blue nails I went for a blue eyeshadow :)

Products Used:
- Collection 2000 Dazzle Me Heavenly 5 all over the lid and dragged underneath
- FCUK pallet colour which isn't named on the inner corner
- Avon Lengths Mascara on the top eye lashes
- Avon Eyeliner along the bottom water line

Everyday Eye Makeup

My eye makeup for everyday is very simple and doesn't take long at all, its just a very fresh look as I don't use a lot of product as it is only for sixth form so I don't really want to wear a lot of makeup when im only there for a couple of hours.

I first apply concealer underneath and on top of the eye which also gives some colour to the eyelid so I don't need to use an eyeshadow. 

I then apply this all over the eye and face as well with a powder puff to make the area matte which gives a nice finish.

I then use this Max Factor mascara on the top eyelashes which gives great definition of the lashes. The only downfall is that it can get a bit dry and flakey. 

I then line the eye on the bottom water line with this eyeliner however on this day I also applied it to the top water line and along the top of the eyelid very thinly.

This is really easy and only takes like 1 - 2 minutes :)

Everyday Makeup

In the mornings I a) don't have enough time and b) I can't be bothered to do a full face of makeup. I actually rarely do a full face of makeup. So I thought that I would share the makeup I wear on a day to day basis :)

The first thing I put onto a moisturised face is;

My concealer which I couldn't live without, I do however want to try a liquid concealer though as I haven't had one before. This is in the colour Ivory 001

The next thing I do is apply some face powder, I use this Natural Collection one by Boots which is just a matte powder. This is in the colour Sand.

I then apply this eye liner from Avon to my water line. This is a really nice eye liner, it is in the colour Blackest Black and it really is, its easy to use and smudge.

I then finally apply this mascara from Max Factor which is in colour Rich Black. I like this marcara a lot, its really nice however I do find that it kind of flakes off sometimes but that might just be because its getting a bit old now.

And that is everything that I do most days, at the weekends I sometimes do an eye look and if im going out somewhere nice then I use like foundation etc. This only takes me a couple of minutes and is really easy to do :)
